Edinburgh Foodies Festival 2017
It may have been raining but good times were had.
– Brendan Thomson, Managing Director
It’s taken a few years to get to this stage but as of Friday 4th of August we have launched our first bottles, of ‘champagne style’ sparkling wine without using grapes.
The venue for this momentous day was the Foodies festival in Edinburgh’s Inverleith Park. Unfortunately (but unsurprisingly) the Scottish summer decided to give us a proper test. We had heavy rain all day during the set up meaning the festival site was more reminiscent of a Scottish football pitch in midwinter than a picnicking park!
The rain didn’t abate on the Friday either leaving only a few hardy souls venturing out to the park to try our first bottles, this did mean they benefitted with a lack in queues….
Our perseverance paid off on the Saturday as we almost had sunshine, well it stopped raining for most of the day. We then had a steady stream of visitors throughout the day who were keen to sample the first elderflower blush sparkling wine. The discounted refill option on a glass was also popular.
Sunday brought a return to the rain which didn’t seem to have any impact and we continued to see new customers trying our new sparkling wine.
Not to sing our own praises too much but our favourite comments from the weekend included ‘the best thing I’ve tasted in the whole festival’ and ‘much better than champagne’.
The event was extremely successful and we were very enthused by the feedback we received. The website is now live and purchases can be made online.
We hope to be stocked in shops shortly as well.
